What is recorded here

Loughnagalliagh, a small rectangular lake (dims. c. 400m E-W; c. 200m N-S) with the River Shannon running through its E end, is interpreted as the 'Lake of the old women' and D'Alton (1845, 11) regards this as the former situation of a convent. There is no evidence of such a site and there are no historical references. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
