What is recorded here

Redcastle is a roofless tower house on the Black Isle that William the Lion helped create when he erected Ederdour at the end of the twelfth century. It passed through Bysset, Besco and MacKenzie hands, burned in 1659 during Rory MacKenzie’s flight with Montrose, and still stands as a hollow red chamber above the old estate lands. The loss of its roof did not empty it; it removed the lid from a room where fire, loyalty and memory can still be handled.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Redcastle as Spindle Whorl (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
