This red commemorative plaque records: William Milner (1900-1942) Station Foreman. Robert W. Smith (1877-1942) Railway Policeman. Killed in the 'Baedeker' air raid, April 29th 1942, in which York Railway Station was targeted as a principal part of the national rail network and severely damaged.
