Catherine Eddowes was one of the victims of Jack the Ripper, a notorious unidentified serial killer active in the Whitechapel district of London in 1888. Her murder, along with those of other victims, contributed to the widespread fear and subsequent intensive police investigation that made the case one of the most famous unsolved mysteries in British criminal history.
