This blue commemorative plaque records: Birkenhead born William Ralph 'Dixie' Dean 1907-1980. Played for Tranmere Rovers 1923-1925 before moving to Everton. His 60 goals in the 1927-28 season remains an all time record. In 2002 'Dixie' was inducted into the inaugural English Football Hall of Fame. Recorded plaque organisation: Conservation Areas Wirral.
