Bawn in Windmill

Bawn

Why this matters

A local castle; wider significance not recorded.

What is recorded here

According to the Civil Survey there was a 'House & Bawne at Wind Mill' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 255). The area around Windmill House was inspected but there was no visible evidence above ground of a 17th-century house (TS060-088002-) or bawn. As the bawn could not be identified at this location it remains unlocated within Windmill townland. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 09 July 2014

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
