This black commemorative plaque records: Alkerton House. Remodelled round a Tudor core in the 18c. Owned by Edward Pleydell, MP for Cricklade and acquired by Joseph Pitt in 1815. A lawyer and also MP, he developed the Pittville area in Cheltenham. Recorded plaque organisation: Cricklade Historical Society.
