This green commemorative plaque records: Revd. John Wesley MA lodged here on the night of October 3rd 1749 when journeying on horse back from Whitehaven to Leeds. This was his first visit to Westmorland. Recorded plaque organisation: Cumbria Wesley Historical Society.
John Wesley MA was a significant figure in the Methodist movement; his travels and preaching contributed to the spread of Methodism across England.
