This green commemorative plaque records: BISHOP BLAIZE INN. This building was once one of Kendal's oldest inns, the Bishop Blaize. Bishop Blaize was the patron saint of woolcombers, having been martyred with woolcombs in A.D.316. At the last Kendal guild procession in 1759, a man on horseback, representing Bishop Blaize, was followed by a hundred woolcombers. The building ceased to be an inn and was restored and converted into housing in 2013. Recorded plaque organisation: Kendal Civic Society.
