Whitbarrow Scar is a limestone sea cliff formed during the Carboniferous period, approximately 300 to 360 million years ago, through the accumulation of marine sediments. It is notable for its well-exposed geological strata and as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its important fossil record and diverse rock formations.
