Marlborough House in the City of Westminster was originally built as a royal residence in the early 18th century, with major construction completed under the direction of architect William Winde for Queen Anne. It is historically important as the London residence of the Dukes of Marlborough and as a symbol of the military legacy of the Duke of Marlborough, a key figure in the War of the Spanish Succession.
