This blue commemorative plaque records: The Hare and Hounds. In 1778 Northamptonshire Militia were using this pubic house as a recruiting office offering a liberal gratuity to recruits. In the 19th century Public Auctions and Coroner's Inquest were held here. An 1888 auction of 9 adjacent cottages stated in the particulars that the annual rental income was £40 16s.
