Wedge tomb in Murhy

On a slight terrace on the S slope of Kesh Corann and commanding an extensive outlook to the S. This is a W-facing gallery (L 6m) which decreases in height to the E. There is a jamb-like stone at the W end of the gallery. This articulates with the N side of the structure which is now represented by at least six partly concealed orthostats. A low backstone closes the E end of the gallery. Its S side is concealed by a spread of stones and may have collapsed. A low orthostat outside the N end of the backstone may be a buttress-stone. Some 1.5m S of the backstone there are two low stones. These seem to be the remains of an outer wall. There are some remains of mound around the S half of the structure. Wedge tomb, dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age (c. 2500–1000 BCE). Its orientation and location suggest it was deliberately placed for visual and possibly ceremonial significance within the landscape.
