This commemorative plaque records: Original outer door of a prisoner's cell. Formerly within the county gaol rebuilt on this site 1695 (following destruction of the original building by fire in 1694) and remaining in use until 1861.
The County Gaol in Warwick served as a significant detention facility from its reconstruction in 1695 to its closure in 1861, housing prisoners and playing a crucial role in the local administration of justice.
