This black commemorative plaque records: The Meeting House Friends bought the house at 39 High St in 1671 and built the meeting house later. This was destroyed in the great fire of Warwick in 1694 but re-built the following year. Friends hold public worship here each Sunday morning. Everyone is welcome. The Meeting House in Warwick has served as a place of worship for Quakers since 1671, reflecting the enduring presence and contributions of the Religious Society of Friends in the community. Despite being destroyed in the great fire of Warwick in 1694, it was promptly re-built to continue its role as a center for religious gatherings and community service.
