What is recorded here

The Gatehouse stands as a castle in Warwick, guarding the river crossing that has drawn human life since the sixth century. It rose from the same sandstone knoll where Ethelfleda built her defensive burh in 914, later reinforced by Norman and medieval walls. The stone arches still frame the old roadway, carrying the weight of every cart, soldier and stranger who passed through toward the Avon.
The Gatehouse is shown as a castle on the public map of Warwick. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
