This blue commemorative plaque records: The damage visible on this wall was caused by the explosion of a Zeppelin bomb at 8.30pm on 31st January, 1916. The explosion fatally injured Mrs S.M. Slater, Mayoress. Recorded plaque organisation: Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council.
S. M. Slater was the mayoress of Walsall who tragically died on January 31, 1916, when a Zeppelin bomb exploded near her home, marking one of the civilian casualties during the German air raids on Britain in World War I.
