Enclosure in Uragh

In rough hill pasture, on a NE-facing slope, overlooking Lough Inchiquin. An irregular enclosure (c. 100m N-S; 70m E-W) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.7m; H 0.6m) protruding above the surface of the bog. Many of the stones are upright and set at right angles to the line of the wall. A portion (c. 50m x c. 40m) of the N end of the interior is divided off from the remainder by an irregular stone wall. A hut site (KE101-063002-) abuts the S arc of the enclosure externally. Two other hut sites (KE101-063003-, KE101-063004-) lie 6m and 10m to the S, respectively. A fulacht fia (KE101-063005-) is immediately to the NE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
