What is recorded here
Lykloystrane, an unclassified castle in Longford barony, was recorded in the possession of Melaghlin O'Kelly in 1574. It vanished from modern mapping before human memory could hold its shape. What remains is a name suspended in time, waiting for someone to walk past the exact field where stone once rose.
Nolan (1901, 110) records that the castle of 'Lykloystrane', in the barony of Longford, was in the possession of 'Melaghlin O'Kelly' in 1574. Not located.
