What is recorded here

Ballingarayne Castle vanished from the earth itself, leaving only a name trapped inside Edmund fiz Ric fiz Moyler in 1574. The barony of Leitrim swallowed the stones, borders and rooms without a scar. Men still speak the castle because it speaks back through them, unchanged and unfindable.
Nolan (1901, 111) records that the castle of 'Ballingarayne', in the barony of Leitrim, was in the possession of 'Edmund fiz Ric fiz Moyler' in 1574. Not located. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 5 December 2017
Edmund Fitz Richard Fitz Maurice held Ballingarayne Castle in the barony of Leitrim in 1574. The castle is remembered for its association with the prominent Anglo-Norman Fitz Maurice family, who were influential in the region during the late medieval period.
