What is recorded here
The precise location of a woollen manufactory or processing building in Usher's A Ward has not been identified. MacLysaght (Dunton 1982, 78) recorded that in 1698 there was 'a large ground plot called in for manufactory, but that is at a stand as they say by reason that England is so much disgusted at the great process they make in working up wool'.
