What is recorded here

Grave is a burial site on the east edge of Clifden, where two small stone marks still lie in a sloping pasture beside the Galway road. The main rectangle measures 3.3m long, 1.75m wide and 0.35m high, aligned north-south, with a second pile a short distance to the north and a larger burial ground about 200m to the northwest. Local people have long treated these marks as graves, giving the field a quiet danger: ordinary cattle grass, shallow stone edges and dead people from before written memory.

In a slightly sloping pasture field to N of Galway road on E outskirts of Clifden town. All that survives is a small rectangular area of small stones (L 3.3m, Wth 1.75m, H 0.35m), aligned N-S. A similar pile of stones, lying a short distance to N, is also held locally to be a grave. There is also a burial ground (GA035-060----) c. 200m to NW.
