What is recorded here

In a natural depression between two parallel cliffs oriented N-S, in rough pasture within an extensive multiperiod field system (CL010-064001-). Indicated on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This subrectangular enclosure (c. 49m N-S; 36m E-W) is defined from SE to NE by a stone wall (Wth 1.5-2m; H 0.4m) which appears to be relatively modern in date. From NE to SE the edge appears to be defined by a natural cliff-face. Much of the perimeter is overgrown with hazel. A natural fosse-like depression (max. D 0.6m) of varying width extends E-W across the centre of the enclosure. There is a possible cairn (CL010-064061-) c. 45m to the NW. Cahercommaun cashel (CL010-064003-) lies c. 60m to the S.
