Architectural fragment in Tullyallen

Mellifont Abbey may have lost this sandstone stoup before it reappeared in the Tullyallen graveyard, carrying water and prayer across centuries. It stands beside the Catholic church with a rounded base, square top and circular basin, small enough for one hand yet large enough to mark a changed world. The other three stoups nearby suggest a room, a court or a forgotten chapel where clean water was kept for bodies and ceremonies. What is certain is that the stone survived, was moved and still gives up clean water without asking to be believed.
