What is recorded here
Graveslab in Tullaherin is the broken upper half of a tapering stone lying at the west end of the nave, its chamfered edges and incised three-armed cross still visible despite bad spalling. The fleur-de-lys terminals and knops suggest a confident 13th or 14th century hand, while the missing lower portion leaves the identity of the buried person unseen. It is not a display object or a complete monument; it is a fragment kept inside the church, asking to be read through loss as much as through craft.
Lying at the W end of the nave of the medieval church (KK024-062001-) of Tullaherin. There are three other graveslabs (KK024-062003-; KK024-062011-; KK024-062012-) within the church. The upper half of a tapering graveslab (L 0.8m; Wth at top 0.52m) with chamfered sides. The slab is decorated with an incised three-armed plain cross and cross-shaft. The head is decorated fleur-de-lys terminals, with a knop at the base of each fleur-de-lys. The upper surface of the slab is quite badly spalled. The lower portion of this slab is missing. Stylistically this slab dates to the 13th/14th century.
