Terraced two-bay three-store house, built c.1840, with return to rear and shopfront inserted to ground floor. Fronts directly onto street. Pitched tiled roof with terracotta ridge tiles, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Ruled-and-lined render to walls with smooth rendered eaves course and quoins. Timber sash windows with stone sills. Timber shopfront having timber pilasters and glazed timber doors, surmounted by timber fascia board.

This simply designed house retains its attractive timber sash window to the upper floors. Its ruled-and-lined render, which is a typical external finish in Irish towns, mimics cut stone ashlar with the purpose of enlivening the plain façade. Though the ground floor has been altered, the structure remains an integral part of the streetscape of Castle street.
