What is recorded here

No visible remains remain, yet in the 1940s a quarter-mile flagged tunnel with branching rooms and two entrances was recorded inside the Toormore rath. It vanished without a trace, leaving behind a hole in the story rather than a hole in the ground. Whatever built it understood depth, direction and secrecy; whatever erased it understood forgetting.

In a rath (KE059-003----). In the 1940s, a flagged underground passage, with rooms branching off it, which extended for 'about 1/4 of a mile [402m]' was recorded here (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). It was also noted that there were two entrances to it from the rath (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). There are no visible remains of this possible Man-made underground passage.
