What is recorded here

At W-end of pasture field. Oval pond (c. 7m N-S; 11m E-W) defined by earthen field boundary SW-NNW but overgrown with briars NNW-ESE. Area heavily poached by cattle. Described by Ó Danachair (1955, 206) as 'a good spring … now used for watering cattle, and not known as a holy well'; according to OSMB 'this well was some time ago held in sacred veneration and devotions performed at it' (ibid.).
