What is recorded here

Gwynn and Hadcock (1970, 46) mention that St Molagga, after spending time in Scotland, Wales and later at Clonmacnoise, then became abbot of Timoleague. The precise location of this ecclesiastical site is not known. A Franciscan Friary (vol. 1, no. 3252) was founded in Timoleague in the 14th century. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
