What is recorded here

There is no visible trace of the ‘Gallaun’ marked on the second edition of the OS map at this location. It was situated in pastureland which slopes gently S towards Lough Currane and was apparently removed in the 1980s (local information). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 252. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 28 July 2013
