Weobley Castle stands on a white limestone outcrop above the Loughor mudflats, a grand 14th-century home built by the de la Bere family rather than a war machine. It survived Owain Glyndwr's rebellion and remained occupied until the early 20th century, watching boats and birds cross the shallow water below. The house still sits within working farmland, where its poor condition and narrow footprint remind visitors that grandeur can be small, quiet and easily overlooked.
