Why this matters

Linked to Saint Sunday, an early Irish saint associated with healing wells, the Sunday Well at Laraghcon was traditionally visited for its supposed curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and general wellness. The well's name and function reflect a common medieval Christian practice of associating holy wells with local saints and their miraculous attributes.
