Stuckeen in County Mayo held a cist inside a tumulus where burnt bone and ashes waited until destruction around 1926. The cist is gone now, but the chamber, urn and remains are preserved in memory. That much is known. What is lost is the sound of the place, the hands that made it, and the reason death was shaped so carefully there.

In tumulus (MA100-095001-). Destroyed c. 1926 it had contained 'a cinery [sic] urn...ashes and burnt particles of bone' (JGAHS 1934, 61). The above description has been derived from D.
