What is recorded here

This structure consisted of an irregular deposit (L 2.35m min.; Wth 1.1m; D 0.12m) of brushwood (diam. 0.02-0.04m), roundwood (diam. 0.06-0.14m) and several small to medium-sized stones. Although most of the pieces were broken, the condition of the wood was moderate. A relatively modern shovel blade and broken handle were recovered. Another structure (LF004-016----) lay 10.4m to the NW. This structure lay at the W edge of the development footprint and may have extended to the W. A single piece of alder was radiocarbon dated, revealing a date range of cal AD 660-870 (Wk-20951) (Moore and O’Connor 2009a, 34, EDC 30). Compiled by: Mary Tunney based on data kindly supplied by Caitríona Moore. Date of upload: 26 August 2011
