Stradbally was a historic town in County Laois, Ireland, recorded in a 1596 grant issued at Maryborough. The grant named Francis Cosby, late of Stradbally, as holding the site, circuit and water-mill lately belonging to the brothers at Stradbally. The town still carries that old shape: a small place made visible through land, water and the lives tied to it.

Historic town of Stradbally and which is described in a grant dated to 1596 which was issued at Maryborough and confirms that 'Francis Cosby, late of Stradbally, was seized of the fee, of the site and of the circuit, lately belonging to the brothers at Stradbally, with a water-mill in the same village …..
