Aberfoyle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Aberfoyle as Monastery (early Medieval)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Aberfoyle is associated with St Fillan, a 7th-century Irish monk and healer, and its holy well was traditionally visited for its supposed curative properties, particularly for skin ailments and eye complaints. The site is linked to early Christian monastic activity in the area and is mentioned in local folklore as a place of pilgrimage and spiritual significance.
