This black commemorative plaque records: Drinking Fountain: Made from pink Peterhead granite, this handsome drinking fountain was presented to the burgh of Doune in 1903 by Sir James and Lady Thompson, in memory of their daughter Edith. Sir James was chairman of the Caledonian Railway and lived at nearby Inverardoch. Recorded plaque organisation: Kilmadock Development Trust.
Sir James and Lady Thompson erected a pink Peterhead granite drinking fountain in Doune in 1903 to honor their daughter Edith; Sir James was notable as the chairman of the Caledonian Railway.
