Castleton holds a prehistoric cup and ring marked rock in Stirling, Scotland. Someone chased a sharp tool across cold stone long before written history, drawing circles and hollows that still break the surface. The marks may have measured water, tracked stars or simply marked a boundary between people and the unknown. They remain because stone resists forgetting even when human memory fades.
