Caverswall Castle is a privately owned early-17th-century mansion built within the walls of a 13th-century castle in Caverswall, Staffordshire. Matthew Cradock bought the decayed site in 1615 and rebuilt it as a large stone house, retaining the old castle walls that later sheltered parliamentary troops during the English Civil War. The property has passed through many hands, including Benedictine nuns, the Wedgwood family, and several convents before modern ownership began.
