Burial ground in Springfield OR Spittlefield is a burial ground in Springfield OR Spittlefield, County Westmeath, Ireland. In November 1950, six human skulls and a number of other bones were discovered at a depth of approximately 1.2 metres below ground level during the clearance of a building site. The Garda report noted that the bones were buried over one metre below ground level, though no details are recorded as to the disposition of the remains.

The files of the National Museum of Ireland records that in November 1950 human remains were discovered during the clearance of a building site at Springfield or Spittlefield, near Mullingar (Cahill & Sikora 2011, vol. 2, 523). Six human skulls and a number of other bones were discovered at a depth of c. 1.2m below ground level. No details are recorded as to the disposition of the remains, but the Garda report states that the bones were buried over 1m (4 feet) below ground level. The remains were not acquired (NMI File).
