What is recorded here

Eighteenth-century, 2-storey house over basement. Entrance front (SE) of 7 bays, pediment with oculus over central 3 bays; cornice under eaves. Limestone steps up to central rectangular door ope with rectangular fanlight. Small basement windows flank steps. Slim brick-arched window opes, sash windows with shallow reveals. First floor weatherslated, slates decreasing in size with height. Gable-ended with brick chimney atop gable, attic windows in gable ends. Central 2-storey gabled projection to rear; lean-to addition to SW end of rear. According to local information, built by Arthur Bastable who resided here c. 1800 (Grove White 1905-25, vol. 4, 222). House abandoned 1973, restored in mid-1980s (O'Sullivan 1986, 22). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
