Castledykes is a Roman temporary camp in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, where a truncated ditched mound still rises through the grass. It is not the Dumfries castle site in the later story, though that tale belongs beside the river Nith. The Roman earthworks remain the clearest fact: a place made for soldiers, haste and watchfulness, now quiet under parkland and memory.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castledykes as Temporary Camp (roman). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
