Castlehill to Hillhead Connection Road may have been a Roman through-route, drawing carts and boots across South Lanarkshire before modern lanes took over. If so, it was not a marginal track but a line of demand, joining places that needed movement and forcing people to carry goods, messages or themselves through living land. The road no longer needs proof of grandeur; it only needs to be walked. Underfoot, it may still align the body toward distance, while above it the fields keep their ordinary patience.
