No visible road survives at Castledykes - Bothwellhaugh - Balmuildy (?), yet the name and official identification preserve a Roman route through South Lanarkshire. The missing surface does not erase the purpose: people crossed that land repeatedly enough to make the way known. What is absent is not nothing. It is a road that stopped answering questions, waiting for someone patient enough to walk it again.
