What is recorded here
Castledykes, Loudoun Hill and the lost Irvine line mark a Roman road stretching through South Lanarkshire. The route may have carried soldiers, traders or fleeing families across hills that still resist easy description. Its exact path has faded, but the names preserve the shape of a line drawn through living land.
