What is recorded here

Cander stands in South Lanarkshire as a medieval tower house, its exact position still debated within a kilometre. The stones may have sheltered families, resisted invaders or simply watched the land pass through seasons. Whether it was a home, a prison or a marker for passing traders, it shaped the lives of everyone who depended on its walls.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Cander as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
