Templehouse was a medieval tower house in South Ayrshire, held by the Knights Templar before the Gemmells inherited it around 1570 and lived there until 1962. An eighteenth-century fire destroyed the family records, erasing proof of earlier residency and perhaps ancient architectural features. The last occupant, Minnie Gemmell, still gives the place its local name, keeping the house alive in memory long after the stones lost their history.
