What is recorded here

Genoch Farm layers a medieval tower house beneath an 18th century house in South Ayrshire, proving that residence and defence often share one address. The tower may have watched for trouble while the later house waited for guests, changing the purpose of the same stones. Both structures still belong to the same place, record and map point.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Genoch Farm as Farmstead (post Medieval), House (18th Century), Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
