Dunduff Castle is a restored L-shaped stone tower on a rocky knoll above Dunure, built around 1696 but perhaps never finished because its chambers, stair and hall still appear incomplete in maps and writings. It overlooks the sea from the Brown Carrick Hills, with a mill once working beside it and a name that may mean a stag fort or the fort of Duff. The place may have been a proud coastal home, an abandoned boast or a border fortress for a local family, and its unfinished walls still invite that uncertainty.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dunduff Castle as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Dunduff Castle was built in the late 15th or early 16th century by the Lindsay family, a prominent Scottish noble family. It is remembered as a well-preserved example of a medieval tower house and is associated with historical events during the Wars of Scottish Independence.
