Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Kirk Hill as Cairn (prehistoric)(possible), Plantation Bank (medieval) - (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

A prehistoric cairn, possibly dating to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, with later medieval or post-medieval activity in the form of a plantation bank. Its significance lies in its potential to reflect early burial or ritual practices, as well as later land use in the landscape.
